“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt”. ~John Muir

Where the muddy water flows through the creek, where the trees turn green during the spring and summer months, and yellow, orange and red during the fall.  Where the deer come together to shelter, drink and feed.  Where the colorful pheasants come to roost and nest, and where the ducks come to swim and eat.  This is one of my favorite places to visit; it is always so peaceful and beautiful and reminds me so much of why I love the country.  I have enjoyed so much on this ground that my Dad owns.  I have walked the creeks many times, taking in the fresh air and enjoying each and every second of being in the outdoors.  I have helped farm this land for my dad, I have hunted it with my husband, I have walked it looking for arrowheads with family and friends, and I have taken many pictures here.

So many memories for me here, and I look forward to making many, many more memories in the future.  I hope to someday, in the farway future, own this land and to be able to pass it down to my children and then to their children.  This farm represents my dad and all of his hard work, what he has grown to be in life and all of his accomplishments.  I hope to someday have my own accomplishments here and I hope my stories along with my dad’s can be passed down from generation to generation.

I have taken so many paths in my life and I am so glad I have had the opportunity to add this dirt road to mine.

  1. Nice post, Queen Farm Chick, and beautiful, BEAUTIFUL shot. There’s nothing like a good dirt road. Reminds me of all the dirt roads and paths I’ve walked, run, biked, and driven down over the course of my life. I can smell the grass, the dirt, the trees, the desiccated fence posts….
